Abstract
Hydrocarbon–based ion exchange membranes (IEM) are used for salt production, acid recovery from waste acid, wastewater treatment, and separation of organic matter and inorganic salts. In the conventional manufacturing process, the monomer is impregnated into the base material, but in the graft polymerization process that we have adopted a chemical bond is formed between base material and monomer, resulting in an IEM that is more flexible and easier to handle than those produced by the conventional process. Monovalent selective IEMs improve salt production efficiency. Proton selective IEMs and anion exchange membrane make two types of acid recovery processes possible. With a wide variety of IEM products and small scale testing equipment for these two processes, we are able to support our customer’s process studies.
