Abstract
Extracellular vesicles (EVs), which encapsulate biologically active molecules such as nucleic acids and enzymes, are secreted by nearly every cell in the body. EVs are involved in intercellular communication, which contributes not only to body homeostasis but also to the progression of diseases such as cancer. Recently, it has been pointed out that the interaction between SARS–CoV–2 and EVs affects their infectivity in the body. This review includes the basics of EVs such as types, secretion and cellular uptake mechanisms, isolation methods, and research examples of breast cancer EVs for understanding the world of EVs.
