Abstract
Carbon dioxide (CO2) is the greenhouse gas emitted into the atmosphere and strong research efforts for CO2 emission have been developed towards decreasing or capturing its production. Direct CO2 capture from the atmosphere known as direct air capture (DAC), among the different strategies, represents a promising technology in which sorbents have been widely used. Recently, CO2 separation membranes containing mixed matrix membranes have also been considered as one of the importance technologies in DAC research. This review offers a perspective of the ongoing research and attempts of DAC applications by CO2 separation membranes. In addition, the process considerations for DAC using membranes are also described to guide the new researchers in this field.
