Abstract
The 4F (φ18.5 mm) and Cal. 8F (φ26.4 mm) movements have a newly developed 196 kHz quartz crystal, ultra-thin lithium battery and 4-bit low-power microcomputer IC for care-free operation. The movements also contain a specially developed ultrasonic micromotor driven calendar mechanism small enough for use in a women's watch as well as a men's watch. The movements have an accuracy of plus or minus 20 seconds per year, a battery life of 5 years for the women's model and 10 years for the men's model, and a calendar valid through February 28, 2100. The calendar even has a memory backup to alleviate having to set the date after replacing the battery.
