Abstract
Longitudinal collisions of elastic circular rods are treated analytically and experimentally. Analytical solutions are obtained in the form of the Fourier series. When there are certain relations between the length and characteristic impedance of two rods, the wave form of the impact force is composed of n steps of rectangles. In this paper, kinetic influences of these principal parameters of the longitudinal elastic collision phenomenon of a rod were clarified theoretically and experimentally. And the information acquired from the conventional solution was arranged by the ratio (ρCA ratio) of characteristic impedance especially about a coefficient of restitution and an energy distribution.
