Chemical shift-encoded MRI (CSE-MRI) is a non-invasive and quantitative method. The method is expected as an alternative to liver biopsy for fat quantification in the liver. The fat quantitative value obtained by CSE-MRI is called proton density fat fraction (PDFF). There are some confounding factors that affect PDFF measurement using CSE-MRI. Recent techniques can minimize those effects. In this paper, I have presented the principle of CSE-MRI and recent clinical application.
