Dr. Ifa (1876-1947), born in Okinawa, was a pioneer in the scientific study of his mother tongue and folklore. Above all his research and commentary on the Omoro Soshi, a collection of ancient religious epics of Ryukyu, are his never-to-be-forgotten contribution to the scientific world.
