Abstract
The purpose of this research project is to develop computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) systems that enable very early detection and treatment for cancers and lifestyle-related diseases by using multimodal images such as CT, MRI, PET/CT images. The goal of the research and development in this project is to reach a level at which the effectiveness of new CAD technologies can be reasonably proven and clini-cally tested for ensuring that practical application can be carried out. At the same time, this project con-tributes to construct the fundamental of computational anatomy research area through the organically combined research progress with A01 group which performs fundamental research of computational anatomical models and A03 group which aims at clinical development of the computational anatomy. In this paper, we describe the purpose of our research plan and present outline of the achievements in FY2010.
