Abstract
This paper presents a concept and research progress of the project "Fusional-Aid for Diagnosis and Surgery Based on Computational Anatomy Models" funded by the Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research of the MEXT. The framework of the FuCADS system (Navigation-based Fusional Computer-Aided and Diagnosis and Surgery System) will be given. The project particularly aims to develop methods that can display appropriate information that medical doctors requires in real-time. Fusion-aid system mean the system that can seamlessly aid the diagnostic process and the therapeutic process without change the systems. For example, it enables physicians to perform automated detection of lesions during surgery or to make surgical plans during diagnosis. Also we briefly show our recent research progress for establishment of FuCADS including automated anatomical labeling of abdominal arteries, anatomical name display of arteries on volume rendered images, automated lymph node detection, laparoscopic surgery planning system and small intestine structure analysis.
