This paper summarizes the achievements in the group A02-KB103 in Multidisciplinary Computational Anatomy project. We focused on the rib and diaphragm kinetics closely related to pulmonary function, and conducted animal and clinical studies to analyze their respiratory motions using dynamic flat-panel detector (FPD) imaging. In this paper, we describe the four major achievements: 1) dynamic FPD imaging for a real-time evaluation of pulmonary function with a large field of view (FOV), 2) computerized methods for quantitative analysis and visualization of pulmonary function, 3) findings in animal and clinical studies, and 4) virtual clinical trial using a computational phantom, referring its application to evaluation of pulmonary function based on a multidisciplinary computational anatomy (MCA) approach.
