The antibacterial agents and the mechanism of the bactericidal actions were discussed with the properties of the antibacterial agents, interaction of metal ion and vital organelle, antibacterial action by the photocatalyst and the reaction of antibacterial drugs in the microorganism. The present results demonstrate that metal ion initially resides in the cell membrane area and it readily infiltrates into the interior of the cell. Therefore, the bactericidal functions of the metal ion are its interaction with the ribosome and the ensuring inhibition in the enzymes and proteins essential to APT production. Furthermore, reactive oxygen species, lipid peroxides and free radicals occur to induce the cell damages by the bactericidal or bacteriostatic actions. The primary site of action results in the microorganism as an antimicrobial factor.
