A Note on the Workman-Reynolds' Theory of Thunderstorm Charge Generation

Abstract

Workman-Reynolds' theory of the acquisition of charges by ice particles, falling through a region containing supercooled water droplets, is worked out in detail; the altitude distribution of charge in a region of active thunderstorm and the amount of charge on an ice particle are shown. Our results show a good coincidence with the observed values obtained by R_{OSS GUNN}.
