Radial scanning is attracting increasing attention as a method of suppressing motion artifacts in magnetic resonance imaging. We compared the effectiveness of radial acquisition regime-fast spin echo (RADAR-FSE), a method of radial scanning, with conventional FSE in the T1-weighted imaging setting by scanning Gd-DTPA phantoms and 9 female patients (pelvic imaging). RADAR-FSE suppressed motion artifacts better than FSE but caused streak artifacts and diminished sharpness. Clinicians should be aware of these limitations.
