Calcium bis (phosphorodiamidate) dihydrate, Ca [PO2 (NH2) 2] 2· 2H2O, was made by adding an aqueous calcium chloride solution to an aqueous sodium phosphorodiamidate solution and then by adding acetone into the resulting mixed solution. The phosphorodiamidate was stable at room temperature, while it was decomposed with water to phosphoramidate and orthophosphate at a higher temperature. The phosphorodiamidate was condensed to polyphosphates with P-O-P and P-N (H)-P linkages by heating at a temperature higher than 100°C and finally converted to calcium metaphosphate in air above 700°C. The thermal product produced above 700°C in dried N2 was amorphous polyphosphates containing an imino group.
