Abstract
A similar solution of the linearized standard Boltzmann equation is presented. As its application, thermophoresis of a spherical particle with large thermal conductivity is investigated. The result confirms the negative thermophoresis, which has been derived by the authors on the basis of the generalized slip flow theory for a slightly rarefied gas.
