Recently, environmental functions of rivers should be considered as well as flood control and water-resources utilization on river improvements. One of the solutions to meet the above, close-to-nature river improvement is focused, and the development of hydraulics of flow with vegetation must be a key of it. In this paper, the recent studies of river hydraulics on the following topics are outlined : (1) field survey of vegetation in flood-plain of a river, (2) modeling of vegetation for river hydraulics, (3) flow over vegetation and related sediment transport, and (4) flow with vegetation zone and sediment transport.
