Genebank Project began in 1985 as a national project to collect, conserve, evaluate and characterize genetic resources of agricultural importance. The project has managed the genetic resources and their information. It covered plant, animal, microorganisms, trees and aquatic organisms. Since 2001, it has specialized in plant, animal and microorganisms. A total of 231,000 plant, 37,000 microorganism and 2,000 animal accessions are conserved in the Genebank. Genebank prepares various resources for users and distribute 13,000 accessions per year for research and education.
