Leguminous crops that are harvested only for dry seed are called pulses. Some pulses are superior to soybean in terms of research material because they contain species with simple genome structures and are rich in species diversity, but they cannot be used directly as breeding materials (genetic resources) for soybean. However, if its gene information can be extracted from pulses, it should be possible to apply it to soybean breeding with similar genetic background. In this paper, we propose the use of gene information from various pulses in soybean breeding, using non-shattering trait as an example of such a possibility.
