Information Management in Organization of Historical Materials Based on Cooperation between a University and the Community

Abstract

Local governments possess historical official documents that show regional history and culture, but these may be stored in an unorganized way. Promotion of organization of historical materials by cooperation between universities and local communities is needed to permit use of these materials and to prepare an environment to foster the work of archivists. However, official documents may include personal information and careful management of this information is required. In this report, we discuss the problems and countermeasures regarding information management required when a university organizes historical materials stored by a local government.
