Potential host species for glochidia of Buldowskia iwakawai in captivity were identified by determining whether the glochidia infected fishes of seven taxa. The fishes were kept in tanks for 6 to 11 days after glochidia infection, and the number of metamorphosed juveniles having detached from the hosts were counted. Living juveniles of B. iwakawai detached from Xiphophorus hellerii, Astronotus ocellatus, Lates calcarifer, and Ambystoma mexicanum. Therefore, these four species were identified as suitable host species for the glochidia of B. iwakawai.
