The viscoelastic properties of gelling agent solutions and polymer solutions prepared at various concentration are analyzed by using a statistical mechanical model. It is confirmed that the frequency dependence of the loss shear modulus of the gelling agent solution can be accurately expressed by the model curve calculated by the statistical mechanical treatment of the two step relaxation processes. The maximum values of the loss shear modulus curves of the gel particles and network components are calculated from the experimental values of the loss shear modulus of the gel solutions by using a statistical mechanical model and a composite parallel model. The structural features of each gel solution are clarified based on the information concerning the molecular weights of the relaxation elements of the gelling agent solution and polymer solution obtained from the maximum values of the loss shear modulus curves.
