Abstract
Phenolic resin is used in large amount for coating, adhesive, electrical and electronics industry, and automotive industry. Furthermore, new types of phenolic resin are being developed for these fields. In this report, the technology trends regarding environmental issues, such as odor reduction at molding process and tar reduction at casting process of phenolic resin for shell mold, are discussed. In addition, as a technical expansion of phenolic resin industry, newly developed phenolic resin composite, which has a new concept of wear resistance, is reported.
