Abstract
Phenolic resin has been used in various applications in automotive industry, as one of the important materials in various automotive-parts like as mould-products around engine and brake pads, and also tires. Furthermore, phenolic resin is the important materials for casting to manufacture engine itself. The reason why phenolic resin has been used for a long period in each part of the automotive industry, is that phenolic resin has excellent properties, which are well-balanced with economical cost. Therefore it has been survived with good solution response to various difficult performance requirements.In this paper, the current state and technology trends of phenolic resin for the automotive industry, and cases to apply phenolic resin to development assistive technology for future automotive parts are reviewed.
