Abstract
Novel polymer network structures are prepared by means of various telechelic polymer techniques. They include a model network, in which both structures of the branch segments and of the cross-linking points are well-defined, and a multicomponent copolymer network, in which different polymer segments are covallently linked to form network structures. In particular, a novel reaction process with telechelic polymers is demonstrated to be useful for the synthesis of model networks and of multicomponent polymer networks. The above mentioned telechelic polymers have some cyclic onium salt groups, which are capable of causing a strong Coulombic interaction, and of a counter anion exchange reaction and the subsequent ring-opening reaction by a counter anion of sufficient nucleophilic reactivity.
