Abstract
On the epoxy resin/ polymercaptan/ catalyst systems, the effects of some curing factor on the curingreaction has been studied. The relative curing rate increased with increasing curing temperature and catalyst concentration and decreasing polymercaptan concentration. On these systems, the active catalyst was found that was not only tertiary amines but also tertiary phosphins. The curing of all mercaptan system was very fast and nearly same rate at room temperature.
The study of dynamic mechanical properties of these cured epoxy resins revealed that the crosslinking density (ρ (E′)) had maxmium at stoichiometric concentration of polymercaptan for epoxy resin, but the glass transition temperature (Tg) increased with decreasing the polymercaptan concentration. Some mechanical and bonding property of the cured resins was also studied.
