Abstract
In recent, various new processing technologies have been developed for injection, transfer and compression molding processes for thermosets. Generally, there are disadvantages of wasting material for sprue and runner in the thermoset injection molding and of low productivity in the transfer or compression molding.
Recycling of scrups and sprueless molding have been developed for the purpose of material saving in thermoset injection molding.
On the other hand for the purpose to increase productivity by reducing the molding cycle, a screw plasticator has been indroduced into the compression and transfer molding process,
Further, to improve qualities, the development of process-control technologies, and then, closed loop controlled with a micro-prosessor have been come out now.
Injection-compression molding prosess is the key to break the stream of the replacement from thermoset to thermoplastics, especially engineering plastics which have in general high productivity by injection molding.
For further development of the thermoset molding process, it is expected that the practical computer simulation for mold die designing and molding conditions planning so as to elucidate rheological properties, kinetics and thermodynamics of plasticated thermoset molding compound.
