Abstract
A review is given on the controversial discussion between classical (Flory-Stockmayer) theory and modern (percolation) theory on gelation process as one of the critical phenomena, presented at the 7th IUPAC Discussion Conference on polymer Networks (Sept. 1980, Karlovy Vary). An introduction to analogies of gelation process with other critical phenomena (liquid-gas and ferromagnet-paramagnet transitions) and numerical values for several critical exponents for gelation are also presented.
