Abstract
This review deals with the principle and instrumentation of Torsional Braid Analysis (TBA) and its application to the study of thermosetting resins. This method uses a specimen supported on a glass braid in stead of a bulk speciemen in the freely decaying torsion pendulum.
TBA is particularly suitable for the study of cure process of thermosetting systems in which low molecular weight liquids are converted to solids. Several examples are given for application of TBA in the study of thermosetting resins. Time-Temperature-Transformation (TTT) cure diagram and Continuous Heating Transformation (CHT) cure diagram are also described which relate the cure process to properties of the cure states.
