Abstract
The plastics industries and their products have made a rapid progress after World War II, and have acted a part of the growth of the world economy.
Thermosetting plastics in particular accounnt for approximately 20% of total production amount of plastics, greatly contributing to the growth of Japanese industries because of their excellent properties such as heat resistance, electric insulating nature and processability, in various forms of products.
Thermosetting plastics have played an impportant role particularly in the field of advanced technology which leads Japanese economy wherein electronics industry is the hub of Japanese indnstries.
An outline of both application and technical trend of thermosetting plastics in electronics industries is given here, being focused mainly on printed circuit boards and semiconductor encapsulating materials.
In addition, recent new resins, their application and the destination of thermosetting plastics for the future are also mentioned.
