Abstract
The kinetics of reactions between methyl αa-eleostearate (hereinafter abbreviated as E) and m-cresol (hereinafter abbreviated as C) have been studied under charging molar ratio of C to E (mol/mol) ≅1. As a result the initial decreasing rate of [E] gave a minimum value under the condition of [C] ≅ [E] and it was estimated that reaction mechanism changed with the molar ratio of C to E. From results of model reaction between E and 2, 4-xylenol (hereinafter abbreviated as X) the reaction mechanism was estimated and the initial decreasing rate of [E] was calculated according to statistical procedure and it was comfirmed that the plot of the initial decreasing rate of [E] vs. [X] gave the curve with minimum. From results of model reaction the reaction mechanisms between E and C were estimated. That is, it was found that C-E-C or E-C or E-E was formed via the formation of complex [E…C] by changing molar ratio of C to E.
