Abstract

With the rapid aging of Japan's population, the number of patients with dementia has been increasing year by year, and there are more opportunities to see patients with dementia in medical practice. In addition, medical treatment for dementia is advancing day by day, with the commercialization of anti-amyloid-β antibody drugs for Alzheimer's disease and new diagnostic biomarkers. On the other hand, the situation that most dementia is incurable has not changed. Under these circumstances, those involved in dementia care are expected to take a comprehensive approach, from early diagnosis to state-of-the-art treatment and even care management. In this article, I outline what I consider to be the key points in dementia care.
