Thermal analysis of pigmented coatings is required to design cool coating against sunlight. To perform these kinds of analysis, calculating the radiative properties of pigment particles inside the resin as a host medium is quiet important. However the resins usually used in making pigmented coatings act as absorbing medium. In that case the traditional Mie solution can not give the accurate results. Here we use the far field (FF) and near field (NF) approximations methods to evaluate the radiative properties of titanium dioxide particles in an absorbing host medium. The effect of size distribution of different titanium dioxide powders on scattering and absorbing coefficient is obtained.
