With increased public awareness of the factors contributing to environmental impacts worldwide, it is essential that Thai printing industry should not be ignorance. This research was performed as a case study, calculating Carbon Footprint (CFP) of a book product and Total Volatile Organic Compounds (TVOC) emission content produced by the Chulalongkorn University (CU) printing house, a company that functions within the conventional printing industry. For the CFP calculation, it was based on PAS 2050:2008, by which the CO2 emissions connected to input materials procurement with the production in the printing house, transportation of the books to customers and end-of-life were placed in a database from where a CFP for a single book could be calculated. Regarding TVOC emission content, the US-EPA guidance was introduced. Results showed that the printing house has little effect towards the CO2 emission connected to their products, as a small share of the emission originated from the production processes. The potential to affect the CFP of printed products depends on the choice of purchased materials. While, the obtained TVOC emission values gave a high-level indication that people living near the printing facilities as well as employees could be exposed to the risk of toxic air born hazards.
