JFPI investigated "actual condition survey of volatile organic compound occurrence in an offset printing plant", and has measured VOC density during offset presswork on five printing plants with cooperation of a printing machine, printing consumable, measuring instrument manufacturer and a related organization, and evaluated working environments. The result indicated that every five printing plants were well managed and in good conditions. But high concentration of VOC was observed during ink roller washing work of short period of time (approx.5 min) and attention is needed in this process. Industrial Safety and Health Law has been revised and risk assessment now becomes mandatory. Thus chemical safety measures will become more important, JFPI will continuously provide concrete counter measures and planning.
