In response to rising demands for sustainable development, packaging suppliers play a pivotal role in advancing GSCM practices in Vietnam's packaged food sector. This study focuses on the packaging manufacturing industry for packaged food, which faces both opportunities and challenges in implementing GSCM. This paper adopts a literature-based analytical approach to synthesize existing studies on GSCM implementation and to assess how such practices influence sustainable performance in the packaging and packaged food sectors. Drawing on the RBV and Stakeholder Theory, the study identifies the most suitable GSCM practices for packaging suppliers and highlights internal resources and external drivers that foster their adoption. The literature consistently identifies both internal resource capabilities and external institutions as the primary drivers facilitating GSCM implementation in the packaging sector. The paper presents the current status of GSCM adoption among food packaging suppliers in Vietnam. This study provides valuable insights for developing appropriate policies and strategies to enhance competitiveness and ensure the long-term sustainable development of Vietnam's packaging enterprises.
