NTT started a comertial ISDN serivce called “INS Net64” using a basic access interface in April 1988. In June 1989, the INS Net 1500 sevice with a primary rate interface of 1.5 Mbps was started. Now this service is available in seventy-seven cities in Japan, at September 1989. This paper presents outline services, user applications and future perspectives of this newly born ISDN.
