In the prepress field, the transmission of color picture data has been growing to the important technology. When transmitting a color picture which consists of large amount of data, the compression technology offers the most effective method to shorten the transmission time. In this paper, the outline of standardized DCT-SQ technology and the configuration of digital terminal equipment which includes the JPEG algorithm and Huffman coding method are explained.
