A high quality lithographic printing technology was developed by using only three colored ink (cyan, magenta and yellow) without black ink and by superposed printing in shadow area. The technology included the following two methods. 1) Superposed printing in shadow area on ordinally printed images without UCR. 2) A new magenta ink with less absorption than a process ink in blue spectrum region, which could use larger amount of yellow ink. As a result, the highest reflectance density was enhanced from 1.8 to 2.4, which afforded higher contrast between highlight and shadow area. Secondary, broader color range was obtained in green and red region.
