The laser light is focused into very small spot of just a few microns in diameter. A high definition image for the offset lithography can be obtained using melt-type thermal transfer technology by laser heating. The wax-and polymer-type thermal transfer ink was melted by laser heating and transferred to the both plates of ZnO master plate and aluminium plate with grained surface. This ZnO-master and alminium plate exhibited run length durability more than 1, 700 and 1, 500 copies, respectively. And, the spherical dry toner was melted by laser heating and fixed aluminium plate with grained surface. The aluminium plate with the spherical dry toner image exhibited good image quality. The energy for the thermal transfer of spherical dry toner was 4.2μJ/spot.
