"Katari Narrative" in the Yomihon Novels(<Feature Articles>Aspects of the Narrators)

Abstract

When considering the formative process of the full-length Yomihon Novels in the late Kinsei period, it goes without saying that Bakin contributed greatly to it by writing Yomihon Novels and criticism. However, this is the very reason why the possibility of Yomihon novels as Kinsei prose is confined. To search the possiblilties of Yomihon novels as Kinsei prose, a group of works are picked up and discussed from the Kyoden Yomihon novels, in which "katari narrative" plays an important part.
