The Criticism Found in the Katakana Text of Inga Monogatari against the Hiragana Text of the Same Work : An lncident that Helped Establish Fiction as a System

Abstract

It is very interesting that there was a publishing of the Katakana text of Inga Monogatari during the process of development from the Hiragana text of Inga Monogatari to Otogi Boko. This is an attempt to prove that the criticism in this Katakana text is quite reasonable and practical. The innerprocess of how these characteristics of the Katakana text helped establish fiction as a system and came to take on an important literary significance, is illustrated.
