Abstract

If the students are told to write their first-hand reading impressions freely, their impressions usually show two different tendencies: "reading comprehension" and "self-expression." As the tendency to write "self-expression" is caused by the dialogical structure of the novel, it is important to recognize this element in the student's reading impressions. These reading impressions include dialogical elements in themselves, whether or not the writer himself intends them to. Therefore, it is significant to give the students opportunities to have dialogues with a literary work as another person. It helps the readers form their thoughts, as well as to deepen their reading.
