Abstract

Mt. Shinobu, which had been one of the main religious mountains in Tohoku area until Meiji period, has a lot of tourism resources. The author analyzed what kinds of tourism resources are introduced as landscape element in Shinobu mountains and how people utilize them. In terms of utilization of tourism resources, the author points out three spatial characteristics in Shinobu mountains. The foot area of the mountain has a eminence of cultural facilities. Tourists come here from a vast area. The middle area is prominent as a zone of tourism resources of nature and park facilities. People living in neighborhood come and enjoy using amusement facilities or appreciate beautiful scenery. The top area is the symbolic space of Shinobu mountains.
