抄録

The demethylation of 4', 5, 6, 8-tetramethoxyflavone with anhydrous aluminium chloride in anhydrous acetonitrile quantitatively afforded 5-hydroxy-4', 6, 8-trimethoxyflavone. When the solvent contained a small amount of water, the 5- and 6-methoxyl groups on the flavone were selectively cleaved to give 5, 6-dihydroxy-4', 8-dimethoxyflavone in a good yield. t Studies on Selective O-Alkylation and Dealkylation of Flavonoids.
