Abstract
During the last seven years, some arrangement and reconstruction of the contents of health check-up services has been conducted at Mito Red Cross Hospital on the basis of the results from questionnaires for the examinees, in order to improve the services. As a result, the levels of satisfaction for services and understanding of results among the examinees increased together with the increase of the number of the examinees, as a new menu was added. First, the introduction of aromatherapy at the lodging of the dock increased the level of satisfaction in terms of the improvement of sleep among the examinees. Second, the group-based health lecture and health education successfully raised the level of understanding of personal results with the level of satisfaction for services, resulting in the increase in the number of individuals trying to make efforts to improve personal lifestyle. Among the repeaters, the proportion of habitual smokers significantly decreased, while body mass index (BMI), serum lipid and glucose levels and liver function tests shifted toward desirable direction. Third, a telephone and fax-based health consulting after the health check-up was introduced. This system enabled to make approaches for health problems or particular questions among the examinees more quickly and more appropriately. Effects of such arrangements of health check-up services at ningen dock are evaluated and discussed in this article.
