Abstract
Objective: To reduce complaints concerning examination guidance and waiting time from subjects undergoing ningen dock, we designed a less expensive and efficient examination guidance procedure without increasing the number of staff/examination devices or restructuring the hospital. Methods: We arranged 4 staff: 2 office workers based in the middle and 1 assistant each at the two ends of the examination floor. Numbered seat covers were put on the waiting seats beside the abdominal echography, electrocardiography, and chest X-ray rooms, and persons undergoing each examination were instructed to sit on the seats in numbered order. In front of the physical examination and physiological function test rooms, a box for examination cards was set so that persons underwent the examination in order. A wireless bell was established between the abdominal echography/gastric radiography rooms, involving several examination partitions, and the guidance counter. Results: The above procedure improved the efficiency of examination guidance, and shortened the duration of abdominal echography/gastric radiography by about 15 minutes per room. Furthermore, the guidance order became accurate, preventing mistakes in the examination order. Conclusion: Various modifications with a focus on examination guidance increased the examination capacity by 5 persons per day, and reduced complaints concerning examination guidance.
