Abstract
Objectives and Methods: Brain Dock is performed as an optional examination of ningen dock in the healthcare center of our hospital. We evaluated the diseases and risk factors for asymptomatic cerebral infarction detected in 570 individuals who underwent brain dock between January and December,2004. Results: Abnormal or potentially abnormal conditions were detected in 228 individuals by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and magnetic resonance angiography (MRA). Of these individuals, asymptomatic cerebral infarction was detected in 181. The risk factors for asymptomatic cerebral infarction obtained by multivariate analysis were age, hypertension, and hypertensive changes in fundus (p<0.05). This study is the first to compare vascular abnormalities in fundus (hypertensive and/or arteriolosclerotic changes in fundus) and hypertension as risk factors for asymptomatic cerebral infarction. Conclusions: It was considered necessary to note that hypertension and vascular abnormalities in fundus are independent risk factors for asymptomatic cerebral infarction.
