Abstract

We developed a comfortable and safe shampoo system while paying special attention to the posture of clients, considering shampoo techniques of beauty salon. Then we evaluated comfort factors of clients subjectively, physiologically and physically. Firstly, we started to search human factors related to shampoo system to establish the comfortable shampoo posture. By analyzing those data and testing further, we realized that some design parameters of shampoo system could be converged and applicable to a wide range of clients. Consequently, we developed new SRSS (Sectioned Rear-rest and Sliding Seat) shampoo system, which has following mechanisms. 1) Fixed upper portion of rear-rest 2) at slides to front and back 3) sorb clients’ sitting height by adjusting the space between a lower portion of sectioned rear-rest and a seat. As a result of these, SRSS system can accept approximately 95% of Japanese adults’ height. Through the final evaluation, we got nice test results from both subjective and physiologic aspects. And we could distribute client’s weight to the neck, shoulder and back, regardless of client’s body size, thus we reduced pressure to the neck.
