Topical Chemotherapy in Skin Cancer and Precancer

Abstract

Five per cent 5-fluorouracil cream under occlusion induced a selective destruction and cure of many of the superficial basal cell epithelioma and squamous cell carcinoma including Bowen’s disease and arsenical keratosis. This therapy was, however, less effective in deeper tumors and had better be combined with surgery or radiation therapy in solitary and deep skin cancers.
