Abstract
Five patients with various skin disorders were treated for 7 consecutive days with 0.1% diflucortolone valerate ointment 10-40g daily. The serum 11-OHCS levels, urinary 17-OHCS levels, eosinophil counts and blood glucose levels were estimated. The serum 11-OHCS levels were clearly lowered in one patient treated with 40g daily, but not evidently lowered in four on a dose of under 30g daily. These results suggest that the inhibition of adrenocortical function by the use of 0.1% diflucortolone valerate ointment is minimal compared to the clinical effects of the ointment.
